SAIC Motor sells 400,000 vehicles in July

SAIC Motor, China's largest automaker, released its production and sales report for July on Aug 8.
According to the report, the carmaker continued to lead the industry by selling 400,000 vehicles that month. Despite a sluggish domestic automobile market, this is the third consecutive month that SAIC Motor has managed to sell 400,000 vehicles.
The company sold 91,000 new energy vehicles (NEVs) and 97,000 cars overseas that month, hitting the high for the year.
SAIC Motor is now in the midst of ramping up production with the aim of achieving even higher monthly sales.
The cumulative sales of SAIC Motor NEVs from January to July were 463,000. In July alone, the carmaker sold 91,000 NEVs.
In July, SAIC Motor Passenger Vehicle (including overseas bases) achieved a breakthrough in NEV sales, with a total of over 28,000 units sold, a year-on-year growth of 29 percent. NEV sales of IM, a joint electric vehicle development venture between SAIC Motor, Alibaba, and ZJ INNOPARK, increased by 111 percent year-on-year, while sales of SAIC Motor's Rising Auto grew by 47 percent year-on-year during the period.
The monthly sales of NEVs of SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC-GM both exceeded 10,000. SAIC-GM-Wuling's Bingo continued to sell well, with its monthly sales exceeding 20,000 in July.
The presale of SAIC-GM-Wuling's Baojun Yunduo started this month, and orders had already exceeded 10,000 within 10 days.
SAIC Motor's overseas sales saw sharp growth in July. Statistics showed that it sold 630,000 vehicles overseas from January to July, a significant year-on-year growth rate of 31.6 percent and the highest among Chinese automobile companies.
The company’s MG brand sold 135,000 vehicles in the European market in the January-June period, a 148 percent year-on-year increase, while MG was ranked at the forefront in vehicle sales in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Ireland.
Sales of the MG4 Electric exceeded 30,000 units in the European market in the first half of the year. The new EV model secured the sixth spot in the sales chart for pure electric vehicle models in Europe, establishing itself as "the best-selling Chinese electric vehicle in Europe".
